AAIA CATALOG MODULE

As simplicity, ease of function and productivity are the main attributes of Auto PlusXP Automotive software, River's Edge has created a cutting edge CD Catalog which is a fully integrated electronic inventory CD catalog building feature. It allows users to publish electronic inventory catalogs on CD for distribution to customers and client base. When creating a CD image of a catalog one simply clicks a button, at which time five files are immediately produced by the Auto Plus software. The user then copies and writes to a CD on their computer. Auto Plus users can efficiently burn as few or as many copies as they wish without having to worry about cost. The user simply creates one master copy. If duplicates are required, the services of a CD Duplication Company can produce thousands or millions of additional copies if required, plus no royalties are ever paid to River's Edge.

In fact, users have total control over the content, with an ability to produce new CD's any time they're desired. As an example of the efficiency of River's Edge Catalog CD builder, if a user spends thousands of dollars each year producing printed catalogs, they would generally print as many catalogs as possible in an effort to gain the most cost efficient price. A problem could occur when the user needs to make changes to his or her inventory. Perhaps it could be a price or cross-reference change, while at other times possibly application notes or description changes. These modifications or changes come about during different times throughout the year, leaving the user with the task of printing all new catalogs. Naturally this incurs major expenses, which include updating materials that must be published and printed for a customer's viewing. With Auto Plus there is no such problem. The user can simply change any information in inventory, and merely click a button to produce a new catalog.

Furthermore, Auto Plus is the only CD catalog software application that allows users to cross reference existing inventory to a vehicle make, model and year. In this particular version of Auto Plus, additional data can be compiled as part of the cross reference of vehicles which includes fuel delivery type, engine size, engine type, engine VIN and designation. The overall value of cross-referencing information allows for several important features such as:
  1. Users can search the system by make, model, year, wherever inventory is searched

  2. User can group parts on service, quotes, and sales transactions by the make, model and year as well as having a printout summary of parts for each vehicle.

  3. The Auto Plus user can custom edit and manage an eCatalog installer which includes attributes such as Product Name, Product Version, Date Product was published, Application, Folder Name, Shortcut Folder Name, Shortcut Name, Publisher, Comments and a URL address.

  4. Publisher, comments and URL address are added to the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs list.
An additional feature of Auto Plus Catalog Builder is the ability to add inventory to a catalog that is not cross-referenced to Month, Make and Year and to make changes to information that is not automotive related. In other words, the user can additionally associate images to every part number. Not only are the images available in the system wherever inventory is viewable, but these images are published to the Catalog. Companies that sell car parts or unrelated items such as key fobs, pens, shoes, hats, jackets, gloves, glasses etc, can add these to the catalog as well. Some customers wish to publish only cross-referenced items, while some want certain makes published, i.e., a catalog going to a customer who may only deal with BMW cars. The end user has the ability to filter whatever items (by category/sub-category) they wish to publish to a CD image.

Not only can Auto Plus users cross-reference their inventory to Make, Model, Year per AAIA standards, but they can also create their own MMY data base entries for use in cross referencing. Perhaps a customer discovers that a particular Make, Month, Year entry from AAIA is not accurate, at which time he or she can edit the entry, correcting what they believe is inaccurate or wrongly inserted. These entries are then added to the master database. As an example, since there is no AAIA equivalent database for motorcycles, the end user can create something such as: Yamaha for the make, YZF600R for the Model, 2004 for the year and all other relevant information including engine size, fuel delivery type, etc. At that point the user has the option of cross-referencing inventory in the same manner that AAIA entries are made. This in itself is a huge feature for automotive companies who deal with tractors/trailers, Semi Truck and heavy-duty equipment. It's also ideal for companies that work with forklifts and specialty vehicles where cross-referencing inventory is critically important. Moreover, the end user that is creative can create other type entries for almost anything they desire.

All inventory items are assigned two fields which means if selected, the catalog also publishes inventory category and sub-category items. These can be selected from the AAIA eCatalog tables or end users can create their own entries. By way of example: Brakes for the Inventory Category and Brake Caliper for the Sub-Category. This becomes a great filter-searching tool when dealing with thousands of parts numbers in a database. A company might have 10,000 parts numbers in their database but when filtered on Brakes/Brake-Calipers, they only have 25 inventory items.

A search can be further refined by Make, Month, Year. If the user is still displaying many results, a further filter on manufacture code can be included which then shows only 10 parts. Filtering even further, on Make, Model, Year, brings it to where there are only 2 parts to choose from. If the user does not know why they have two parts for the same vehicle from the same manufacturer, they can highlight and look at the application notes.
