An interview with Eddie Change Owner-President Crane Automotive in Carson, CA.


Rebsi: So, let's get started. How did you first hear about Auto PlusXP?

Eddie: I saw an ad in Cool Profits Magazine which is a radiator specialty trade publication.


Rebsi: What were your first impressions of the product when you signed up? What keeps you using Auto PlusXP?

Eddie: It was much better than what we were using at the time. We were on an old UNIX package and I was really looking for a good Windows based product that would allow for the functions we were used to in accounting, but excel in all other areas of inventory control, sales etc. We keep using Auto PlusXP simply because there is no other package out there that can match the features, performance and price.


Rebsi: What other benefits did you experience when using Auto PlusXP?

Eddie: In our industry of automotive radiator distribution, catalog application is king. You have to have a way to manage your inventory and what it fits now, and what it is going to fit in the future. Auto PlusXP allows us to cross reference our radiator and radiator related parts to the application or applications they fit so when a customer calls or visits our online shopping cart catalog, they are finding the exact fit.


Rebsi: Were you using another software product before or were you managing your automotive business without a software system? Was the transition difficult?

Eddie: We were using Advantage Accounting System by Roundtable Software. The transition was not difficult, but we ran both systems side by side for a couple of months and ran reports from both systems. We were so impressed during the comparison of how much more efficient the Auto PlusXP system is.


Rebsi: What challenges did you face that Auto PlusXP was able to help resolved?

Eddie: Although our old software had some good accounting features, it did not have good inventory control. It did not have any up selling or interchange number features. The biggest thing was the lack of any kind of catalog application features.


Rebsi: How are you using Auto PlusXP? What are you using it for? What features do you use most (inventory SEO, sales order entry, purchase orders)? Have you used Auto PlusXP in ways you hadn't anticipated?

Eddie: We use Auto PlusXP to manage our inventory, warehouse, sales order entry, purchasing, receiving and more. We live and breathe in the inventory control module and all of the alternate, interchange, up selling and application to vehicle features.


Rebsi: Has your investment in Auto PlusXP provided a positive ROI?

Eddie: Almost Immediately, we can do everything much more efficiently and with greater accuracy now. We have saved many man hours per day using the Auto PlusXP system which equals dollars at the end of the month.


Rebsi: Has your company seen increased growth since you started using Auto PlusXP?

Eddie: We have. We are now carrying more lines and have been able to fulfill larger orders faster which has brought larger clients our way.


Rebsi: What was the learning curve for Auto PlusXP? Was it easy to use?

Eddie: Since we had the opportunity to run Auto PlusXP side by side our old system, we were ready to go the day we decided to go live.


Rebsi: How has Auto PlusXP affected the amount of time it takes you to find what your customer is looking for? Are you seeing fewer returns now because the customer is getting the correct part for their application?

Eddie: We see very few returns because of wrong application. Actually, next to none. Finding the correct application for our customer takes seconds. We have customers calling us all of the time asking us to verify our application lookup with theirs as they trust ours more.


Rebsi: What are some of the things that people are saying about Auto PlusXP?

Eddie: I do not know what other people are saying, but the customers of ours we have referred to Auto PlusXP have nothing but great things to say about the software and the staff at River's Edge, Inc.


Rebsi: What is the one feature of Auto PlusXP that you can't live without?

Eddie: The inventory catalog module.
