SUCCESS STORIESAn interview with Mike Ron, President Partcraft, Inc. in Lancaster, CA.Rebsi: So, let's get started. How did you first hear about Auto PlusXP? Mike: River's Edge, Inc. found us. I believe they knew we needed help because at the time I was looking for a new business software system for our company, they just happened to be there. The timing was great. Our company Partcraft, Inc. was very lucky indeed on this one. Rebsi: What were your first impressions of the product when you signed up? Mike: The way Auto PlusXP handles the inventory and shows history of every part a customer has every ordered. Also, cross referencing or interchanging our part numbers to and from competitors numbers has been a huge benefit. We are able to input our competitors part numbers and it pulls up our numbers in an instant. There is way too much to say about Auto PlusXP, I mean from accounting, receiving, marketing, order entry, everything, it's just awesome. I was impressed the first time I saw the system. I could not wait to use it to run our business. Rebsi: What keeps you using Auto PlusXP? Mike: Auto PlusXP has made us more successful than we have ever been or hoped for. Rebsi: What other benefits did you experience when using Auto PlusXP? Mike: There are just too many to list. We are more efficient and better organized both in our sales departments, accounting, warehouse and just everywhere. Rebsi: Were you using another software product before or were you managing your automotive business without a software system? Mike: Yes, we did have a very expensive UNIX based system that was very confusing and was holding the growth of our company back. Rebsi: Was the transition difficult? Mike: Change is always difficult no matter what you do. Overall the transition went pretty smooth. Rebsi: What challenges did you face that Auto PlusXP was able to help resolve? Mike: I think the biggest challenge was the way in which Auto PlusXP has handled our BOM (Bill of Materials) and inventory. We are a manufacturer and distributor. Every part number we stock and sell is a kit. Every sub-component is a member of multiple BOM. We do not build our kits until the customer purchases them. In our UNIX system the only way we could handle this was to pre-build the kit and shuffle the BOM around. The problem arose when a customer placed a large order for kits that we did not have in the system but yet we knew we had the BOM allocated other kits. So then we would have to disassemble kits and build new ones. We were not efficient doing this and lost time, money and inventory during the process. With Auto PlusXP, we have the ability to keep zero on hand of the master components and Auto PlusXP builds the kits on the fly during the sales order entry process. All of the BOM management happens automatically during the process. You can even modify the BOM at the time of sales order entry for that particular build only. It even prints out a separate work order along with the pick ticket so the employees know what to put in the kit. This has been one of the most beneficial features by far for the way we do business. Rebsi: What features do you use most (inventory SEO, sales order entry, purchase orders)? Have you used Auto PlusXP in ways you hadn't anticipated? Mike: We use every feature of Auto PlusXP at this time. About the only thing we are not using yet is the ability for Auto PlusXP to manage our online shopping cart. We do not have a shopping cart yet, but plan on it in the very near future. Rebsi: Has your investment in Auto PlusXP provided a positive ROI (return on investment)? Mike: Yes. Not only have we become more efficient in our daily processes, the implementation of Auto PlusXP has actually grown our business. We are very pleased with our investment in Auto PlusXP and will never use anything else. River's Edge, Inc. is constantly improving the Auto PlusXP system so we know we will never be behind technology again. Rebsi: Has your company seen increased growth since you started using Auto PlusXP? Mike: Huge growth. I still can not believe it. Rebsi: What was the learning curve for Auto PlusXP? Was it easy to use? Mike: Auto PlusXP is a windows based system and extremely easy to use. The learning curve was short as the system is so intuitive. Rebsi: How has Auto PlusXP affected the amount of time it takes you to find what your customer is looking for? Are you seeing fewer returns now because the customer is getting the correct part for their application? Mike: If a customer gets a wrong part now, it is because of a human error not because of not having the correct data or system to look it up. It has nothing to do with Auto PlusXP. Rebsi: What are some of the things that people are saying about Auto PlusXP? Mike: Everyone I speak to loves it. My customers love it because we can get their order taken quicker and shipped quicker. Rebsi: What is the one feature of Auto PlusXP that you can't live without? Mike: Nothing. I have to have it all. Everything is so tightly integrated. There is no way I could not use it all. Rebsi: Thanks for participating. Is there anything else you'd like to add? Mike: The River's Edge, Inc. team are the best in my book. Thanks to them, we have a successful business. I have said this before, "I do not know where we would be right now if it had not been for River's Edge, Inc. |
